"Fair as the guardian of the Capitol, Soft as the swan; a large a lovely

fowl His bill, his gallant bill had changed him quite, To sooty blackness

from the purest white."

Rokh'odin Fey is a Corvus lumenus, a now rare species of plumage-changing Raven since the range of 900-1200 AD, having been known to exist in the Northern Balkans and Romanian mountains and forests of Transylvania since the beginning of time. No documented facts however are recorded down, and mostly only through oral history and sightings of Visigoths, Huns, Lycans and other tribal inhabitants of the region.

Their steady decline in existence often had to do with their white plumage phases during a full moon, heightened with a slight light source within the genes. From this, tribal humans sought the tail and contour feathers for spiritual superstitions and from rumors, as well as wealth. Most Lumenis Ravens sought protection within dense feral wolf and lycan territories, relating to their unexplainable natural alliance since the dawn of time. Often adapting cultural changes from other white-covered birds, though most being from Owl and Hawk nations, naturally enemies of the Corvus, it was difficult for them to exist anywhere.

Rokh'odin, (Fey being the one of seven last known Lumenis Raven ancestral bloodlines) had spent most of his upbringing and early life in the homelands of his birth in the Romanian forests. Having never known the isolated yet grand "political" kingdoms of the Ravens, most raven-aerial empires had fallen to rival Eagle races and other competitive avians. Raven nations themselves often had no special opinions of the Lumenis breed, or if they did it was an outcasted and negative one. Most saw them as outlanders to the greater Raven race, a sovereign breed "holding precious skies to themselves" dubbed by most. Factoring in Human and Dragon wars, most Lumenis Raven families were driven deeper into our out of the Northern Balkan wilderness.
Rokh'odin in his coming of age sometime near 1249, deserted his homeland. On the contrary to political and family pressures, he had nearly fallen in love with a feral wolf, an impossible match, and abomination by either race. She was killed in the plight of fur hunting and lycan-changeling persecution. Rokh'odin, after that, had traveled most remote areas after, never attaching or really detaching from those he met or places he left. Nearing his culturally "adult-elder" status back home, he's rejected most Raven culture, helping only those he wishes (In most cases being wolves or wolf-people).
Aiding help to wolven races in regards to The Sight, a near-strictly Corvus lumenus trait. The Sight implies a chosen individual, the more ferally wolf-related or intune the better, may use his eyes as their own. Other powers relating to The Sight include replaying events visually captured in his experiences new and old. For individuals to gain this power, one must gain the raven's trust for compliance, or be gifted a lumen-activited feather. Lumen feathers are only useful within the short span of a peaked full moon, when Rokh'odin transitions to a full white plumage.
Rokh'odin traveled to the Mystara island among a migrating flock mixed of Fish Crows and European Starlings. Since having disconnected with the migrating group, he has taken refuge in Mystara.

Long ago, near the beginning of the world and soon after Creation, by the Great Mystery, Gray Eagle was the guardian of the cosmos, Sun, Moon, and Star. Through quarrels and a distrust of the new Human race, Gray Eagle hated man. So much so, that he decided the world should not see and share the things left in his ownership and possession. As he kept them deeply hidden away, people and all things newly created at the time, mostly the bridge-animals (the links between earth and sky) lived in sheer darkness.

Gray Eagle had a beautiful daughter, and Raven fell in love with her. His feathers colorless due to the world's darkness, he had pleaded with the Great Mystery for color to impress her and aide his courtship. Soon, Raven changed to a snow-white bird. As such, Gray Eagle's daughter was pleased and allowed his courtship.

After such a long time, knowing Raven was right for her, she invited him to her father's home. As Raven entered, he saw the inside adorned with the sun, the moon, and all the stars. Raven was entranced at the sheer beauty of these beings he was able to see. Afraid of betrayal to Gray Eagle, he kept his bill quiet, since the Great Mystery had not known of Gray Eagle's greed when his creations of light were kept in secrecy from the world.

When Raven became mates with Gray Eagle's daughter, he promised her if she would love him for all eternity, he would grant her a gift beyond her imagination. Taken back and impressed with her lover, she agreed, for no other could compare to him.

After her promise, Raven snuck into her fathers home while asleep. Sun was asleep, a very loyal being to Gray Eagle, but Moon and Stars were awake. Softly they spoke to Raven.

"Raven, we know what you have come to do. We wish to be free, please take us from here. Sky is in love with Star, and Gray Eagle keeps them apart, as I am in love with Wolf. Our hearts ache and are sad, and we cannot bare to exist without them. Gray Eagle and Sun keep our words hidden from the Great Mystery. . ."

Raven thought of Gray Eagle's daughter, what torture he would suffice if kept from her. Without hesitation, he knew what he should do. As he crept towards Sun, he opened his fiery mouth to shout to the sleeping Gray Eagle, but before he had a chance, Raven snatched the sun in his thick corvid beak. As he flew upward, Moon had bursted through the thatched roof of the home. As Moon lit the way, Raven flew up to the sky with Sun. When Raven grew tired of flying, and Gray Eagle tired of chasing, Moon lifted Raven to the heavens. As the stars embraced the night sky in reunification, Sun screamed in anger, using his fiery power to burn Raven..sending his feathers to charcoal, ruining the Great Mystery's gift of a white plumage.

In pain, Raven opened his beak and dropped the Sun. Now trapped in the sky, Moon and Sun quarreled, as Raven descended to the earth, landing injured and burned in large conifer trees.
Gray Eagle in his rage attacked the weak Raven for his betrayal of trust, and with it, Gray Eagle in his mighty power forever cursed Raven and his offspring to forever be black. From Raven, to Crow, even down to the Cowbirds and Grackles. Many ravens and crows, in their defiance of betrayal from the Great Mystery, forever became known as the death messengers of the world, fleeting with souls of the dead and feeding off carcasses of the dying.

Sky and Stars had forgotten of Raven, lost in the blindness of their love and infatuation. Though Moon did not forget. When she found Raven, she eased his pain and loneliness with a special gift. Not a gift of the cosmos or the Great Mystery, but of her own making and craft.

"Raven..." she spoke. "My poor savior, I apologize for all that has happened in the world, even in such great deeds, sometimes corruption prevails and we ask ourselves how this could be. It shakes our faiths and makes us question our destiny. I have not forgotten your heroic sacrifice for Gray Eagle's daughter, and the joy in my heart can't ever repay you for reuniting me again with Wolf.

Raven listened intently as he sat perched in a large pine tree amidst the mountains.

Wolf, holding Moon in his embrace, spoke to him.

"My gift to you shall be companionship. One who sacrifices them self for love and others love never need be alone." He spoke. "I shall gift you the power of the Sight. With it, wolves across all the world shall call on you for guidance, and if they be right, channel your power. There will forever be a bond between us, and you will never be alone."

When Wolf ended his small speech, he gifted Raven with The Sight.

Moon kissed her Wolf proudly, though one can never gain a power for love, in its truest forms, she knew Wolf had done all he could to ensure Raven would at least never be cast out.

"Your kind now scavenge the world, Raven. Though perhaps someday they will see the individual, end their judgement and change their perspectives. Sun burned you for your sacrifice to end corruption, and knowing his loyalty to Gray Eagle, he will not uplift his curse in the ownership of the day. Though, when I regain my power and control in the throne of the skies and heavens, I will change you to be the beautiful bird I once knew, the savior."

Ending her words, she quickly cast moonlight into the very genetics of Raven. Ensuring that in the cycles of Moon, he shall regain his once prideful beauty.

Raven was left speechless, his problems were not all answered, but his grief and self-loathing seemed to wither quickly into the very earth below them all. The love between Wolf and Moon was as it should be, as he had remembered long before with Gray Eagle's daughter.

"Your love for each other keeps my memories intact, and your kindness inspires me."

He quickly flicked his black head towards Wolf.

"Wolf, I'm so thankful for the gift, I promise that the wolf for all eternity shall know to look for the White Raven at the peak of his exposure to his lover, Moon. They shall know I will be their guide, and if they listen, The Sight shall be theirs in their aide, and I will gladly help them in their struggles in situations they cannot foresee."

He smiled at Moon, knowing he would never be able to speak with her again.

The three departed to their rightful places in existence.

Wolf passed into memory their connections with Raven, though as the fanged and furred race dispersed throughout the world, as well as the dark ravens and crows, many forgot what their forefathers had passed down. Greed, War, Survival and Death had plagued the Earth and clouded the minds of all creation.
Look deep within your ancestry, do you remember the White Raven?

~ ~ ~ ~

Rohk'odin Fey is a cherished ancestor of Raven. Known deep in the lore of Wolf people, Lycans, and feral wolves known as the Lumenis Raven, a some mere 8-13 in number left in the world. A long-living, near immortally aging bird, though rapidly descending its existence in nature. The Lumenis Raven has been nearly forgotten, as its presence declines and its sole purpose carrying out the promises made seem to dwindle.
Rohk'odin Fey stands as one of the last of the Lumenis Ravens.
